Heart of the (Unreal)

At the Heart of the (Unreal) is an exploration of the impact of migration in feelings of belonging in contemporary life.
The illustrated textile piece was created for the exhibition Future Divergencies, which examined the influence of technology and societal changes on artistic production

Drawing from my personal experience as a migrant, I chose to explore how migration shapes our perception of reality and our sense of safety and belonging.

The piece is inspired by John Berger’s writings in "And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos".
It conveys its message through both the illustrated imagery and its material presence as an object of comfort.

It offers protection and solace, addressing the feelings of loss and disconnection often associated with the experience of relocation.
